About DPR
Department of Petroleum Resource (DPR) is a department under the Nigerian Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources (FMPR), DPR has the statutory responsibility of ensuring compliance to petroleum laws, regulations and guidelines in the Oil and Gas Industry.
The discharge of these responsibilities involves monitoring of operations at drilling sites, producing wells, production platforms and flowstations, crude oil export terminals, refineries, storage depots, pump stations, retail outlets, any other locations where petroleum is either stored or sold. It also oversees the safety and other regulations that relate to the exportation and importation of the products into the country.
DPR’s Hiring Process
The breakdown below explains the basic steps:
- Application: Applicants apply online.
- Online Test: You may be required to take an online test. If you are successful, you could be invited for a computer based test or be scheduled for an interview
- Interview: You will have an onsite interview with the professional manager.
- Assessment Centre: You will be invited for an assessment day. During this day, there might be interviews, tests, and group activities such as discussion, presentation and acting out scenarios. The Assessment Centre helps in getting a more accurate perspective of you as a candidate, and if you make a good fit for the company and the relevant position.
DPR Aptitude test format
Based on our observation of all the past questions DPR has used so far, the test format always includes:
- Quantitative reasoning: Basic Arithmetic, General mathematics
- Verbal reasoning: Comprehension passages and verbal logical reasoning
- Technical based questions: Physics, Chemistry, Basic geology, Engineering conversions, Engineering maths, some role specific questions
- Current Affairs/ General Knowledge
What you should know:
- The number of questions do change from year to year,
- The average time is 1-minute per question. Total time is usually 60 minutes
- You may or may not be allowed to use a calculator, but most times use of a calculator is allowed.
- Punctuality to the test center is very important, you should arrive at least 15minutes early.
